Science of Music
Interactive and hands-on activities will assist children with this introduction to music. By the end of the workshop children will know that: Sound is made by vibrations. Sounds and music can be loud or quiet, which is called volume and sounds and music can be fast or slow. Each child will make a Jingle bracelet at the end of the workshop.
Creepy Crawlers
Children get engrossed in entomology! They find out that insects are arthropods and inspect authentic insect specimens. Insect anatomy is introduced and examined up-close. Children learn how insects see the world and the many different ways insects defend themselves. At the end of the workshop each child will create a model insect.
Common Senses
This interactive workshop is a great introduction to the five senses. Comparing each sense to an animal with exceptional skills, children will see how different living things learn about their environment. The class will learn to identify object by touch and to name mystery sounds. Each child will make an optical illusion called a Thaumatrope.
