Changing Seasons

During the Changing Seasons workshop, children will discover why we have different seasons and the role that weather plays in our lives. They will learn how humans, plants and animals prepare for seasonal changes in very different ways and sing a specially-written Four Seasons song. Each participant will make and their very own Pet Tornado!

Mad Mixtures

Mad Mixtures introduces children to the science of chemistry. Children will learn about chemical safety and common hazard signs. The concept of chemistry as ‘mixing things together’ will be explored in a hands-on activity, when children pour, stir and mix their way to a volcanic explosion. The workshop concludes with each child creating their very own Crazy Dough at home.

Colour Lab

This fun-filled workshop is an interactive introduction to the science of colour. Children will learn about light and colour, and practice identifying colours in a variety of activities. An amazing demonstration opens up the world of colour-changing chemicals. The concept of colour mixing will be explored in a hands-on chromatography activity where children will create beautiful flowers.

Animal Friends

Animal Friends will assist students with an introduction to animals. Participants will identify animal sounds. They will learn why animals have different types of coverings for their bodies such as fur, scales and feathers and discover that animals change from the time they are babies to when they become adults. The workshop ends with the children creating their own Beaver Puppet.

Human Body

This workshop is an interactive introduction to the Human Body. Students will identify organs, build a bony skeleton and learn about muscles. Incredible visual demonstrations show how the stomach digests food and the amazing length of intestines inside each person. The children will end the workshop making an x-ray image of their hand.
