Our Workshops are Curriculum Correlated

Mad Science curriculum workshops meet and go beyond provincial standard requirements. Our programs encourage an inquiry-based learning environment. Students will have the opportunity to learn through engaging demonstrations and hand-on activities. All students will make and take home an activity that relates to one of the topics discussed.

Happy Customers

Here's what teachers have to say about our workshops!

This is the first time I have used Mad Science, and I will definitely be calling you again next year. Your hands-on experiments were very much like the ones I was planning on using - except way, way better! Thank you!

We always enjoy the presentations by the Mad Science people. They are targeted to the topic, have all the materials ready to go and the students are focused the entire time. It is a fun experience! Thank you!

Catherine was amazing. The students were very excited and very engaged - and they still talk about it (a week later!). Thank you!

Do the students take something home from a workshop?

Yes! At least one take-home activity is part of every curriculum workshop. The activity is built during the workshop and relates to one of the topics of discussion. The students will also receive a journal that can be kept in class to supplement the workshop or taken home.

How long in advance do I need to book?

We recommend 4-6 weeks before your event date.

Are parent volunteers required?

Parent volunteers are not required but are always welcome particularly in JK/SK classes.

Do I need to provide any equipment?

The Mad Scientist will require a 3’ x 4’ (approximate size) table or a couple of desks pushed together, access to an electrical outlet and access to a sink before and after the workshop.

How do I set up my classroom?

Students will be working in groups of 4 or 5 so you are welcome to arrange your desks in groups ahead of time, however, our instructors are very flexible and are able to work with a variety of classroom set-ups.

What time will the Mad Science instructor come to my school?

The Mad Scientist will arrive and sign in at the office before school begins, or at lunch for afternoon workshops. Please let us, or the school office, know where our Mad Scientist should set up.
