Learning doesn't have to stop after the bell rings! Mad Science extracurricular programs are both educational and fun. Our hands-on, one-hour, 8-week science programs are themed around a particular area of science and include such topics as electricity, magnetism, optics, biology, and many more.

NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers
(Gr. 1-6)
NASA and Mad Science collaborate to educate the next generation! Children go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities, and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun and stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, and more!

Crazy Chemworks
(Gr. 1-6)
Welcome to the world of chemistry! Children make slime, experiment with different reactions, and learn to use the tools that chemists use. Polymers and catalysts are only two of the fascinating concepts our young Mad Scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the chemistry lab!

World of Wowology
(Gr. 1-6)
Examining the world children interact with is an ideal way to explain scientific principles. Students will learn all about the science of flight and the forces that are involved. They will discover the scientific principles of magic and see how almost everything can be explained. Reasoning skills will be put to the test as they become Junior Engineers, building and testing structures.

Imagination Investigation
(Gr. 1-6)
Students test their forensic skills as they become super sleuths. We explore the amazing world of insects, learning how these fascinating creatures live. Each child will construct a propeller driven race car as they learn about the power of mighty machines. We raise the curtain on the mysteries of movie making and special effects. Students explore the wild world of weather making a UV keychain.

Brixology
(Gr. 1-6)
Using LEGO® bricks, kids build a different engineering-themed project in each class. They explore different engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical, and bioengineering. They use critical thinking and creative problem-solving to test and improve their creations.

Schoolhouse Chess
(Gr. 1-6)
In this chess program, we bring the game pieces to life with vivid personalities and creative histories. Our characters accelerate the learning process and fascinate children. Students will improve their problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as their logic skills, memory and pattern recognition. Time will be allotted each week to challenge their fellow players & practice new skills.

Discovery Lab

FAQ
How long are your programs (weeks and hours)?
Our standard program can be held during the lunch hour or immediately after school for 1 hour and typically lasts for 8 weeks. However, Mad Science can sometimes accommodate program requests of 4 to 12 weeks. We will be happy to discuss any atypical scheduling needs.
+Who pays for an after-school program?
Typically, after-school programs are paid for by parents. In some cases, a PTO or other organization may opt to pay part or all of the students' enrollment.
